The Recreation Department's Lifeguard Service will begin on Memorial Day weekend, May 27th 2017 - Labor Day Sept 4th 2017 at the following Beaches: Dawson Beach: Dawson Ave. - Prospect Fish & Game Seabluff Beach: Platt Ave. - Cove River Bridge Oak Street Beaches A & B: Oak Street Altschuler Beach: Altshuler Pier - Rock Jetty Morse Beach: Morse Ave. - Coast Guard Light
At various times please check below.
If NO Lifeguard is on Duty Swimming is at your own risk!


Beach Parking: 
The City of West Haven offers FREE Beach Parking to WH Residents displaying the current up-to-date beach sticker at the following parking lots:  Seabluff, Dawson Ave., South St., Rock St., Altschuler Plaza, Oak St., Bradley Pt., Morse Park and Sandy Point.  All Non-Residents MUST Pay the Parking Kiosk's.

Boat Ramp:
Use of the April Street Boat Ramp is also available to WH Residents that are displaying a Valid West Haven Resident Sticker.  Non-Residents must Pay to Park the Parking Kiosk and display ticket. 

How to get a WH Resident Beach Sticker...?
Residents needing a New Beach Sticker can obtain one at the Human Resource office in City Hall, showing a valid driver's license, vehicle registration to West Haven, CT, and also proof of WH Residency. 

Non-Resident Parking:
Parking for Non-Residents is available and must Pay to Park via the Parking Kiosk at Morse Park, Sandy Pt., Bradley Point & Seabluff. 
*** Please be advised that only WH Resident Lots will only have a Constable***
Constable Part Time Hours:  9:15am - 3pm
Constable Full Time Hours:  9:15 - 2pm

Non-Residents & West Haven Residents MUST Pay to Park on Palace St and Pay the Parking Meter.

How do I get a Non-Resident Beach Sticker...?
Non-Resident Stickers are also available for a $75.00 Fee and are allowed to park in any Non-Resident or Resident Parking BEACH Lot not having to pay the daily fee.  To get one please go to City Hall Human Resources Office on the 2nd Fl.
* This does NOT Include the Boat Ramp*  

Handicap Parking:  Is available a various parking lots along the shore front.  If you are a Non-Resident & using the Parking Kiosk to pay to park you MUST be in a Non-Resident Lot.  The ONLY way for a Non-Resident Handicap Car to Park in a Resident Lot is if you have a Valid Non-Resident Parking Pass displayed on your driver side window.

Sandy Point:  Resident w/ Sticker & Non-Resident Lot (Must Pay the Parking Kiosk).    
Morse Park:  Resident w/ Sticker & Non-Resident Lot (Must Pay the Parking Kiosk).   
Altschuler:  Resident's ONLY w/ Sticker  
Oak Street:  Resident's ONLY w/ Sticker 
Casino:  Resident's ONLY w/ Sticker 
Bradley Point:  Resident w/ Sticker & Non-Resident Lot (Must Pay the Parking Kiosk). 
Seabluff:  Resident w/ Sticker & Non-Resident Lot (Must Pay the Parking Kiosk).    
Dawson:  Resident ONLY w/ Sticker    
South Street:  Resident ONLY w/ Sticker 

NO OVERNIGHT PARKING IS ALLOWED
ALL PARKING LOTS CLOSE AT 10:30PM


General Information:
The City's beaches are open to the public free of charge. However, department officials may cancel lifeguard service at any time due to inclement weather. Anyone who swims at an unguarded beach during cancellation of lifeguard services due to inclement weather, or before or after scheduled supervision hours does so AT THEIR OWN RISK.

PLEASE NOTE:
The Recreation Department designates various swim only areas with the use of buoys. Watercraft users must use extreme caution, comply with all State boating regulations and not operate their crafts in designated swimming areas.

All crafts under power are limited to "NO WAKE SPEED/under 5 mph" when operating within 200 feet of the shoreline in non-designated areas.
